2 Thien baffles in one chamber?

I'm pretty new here and have looked into ways of increasing the efficiency (especially fine particles) of my Thien baffle separator (two 5 gallon buckets, one upside down on top of the other). Has anyone tried making double baffle separator? I was curious about adding a second baffle below (or maybe above?) the first one. But this brings up the issue of disturbing the separators current airflow path.
Another idea I've thought about is making a place at the bottom of the separator bucket that can let dust settle without being disturbed by the spinning air of the cyclone. I was thinking about cutting the bottom 5" or so off a new 5 gallon bucket, drilling a bunch of holes in it (1/2? - 1"?) And placing it at the bottom of my separator bucket.
My objective is to reduce the movement of dust that accumulates in the bottom so that it has less of a chance of being sucked up into the vacuum filter. Thanks for reading, and input is appreciated!
