Well I read it all.  Good way to watch it snow outside.

I admire all the effort you took in documenting and testing.

What are you retired from ?  I take it from your skills and writing that you are not a high school dropout.  <G>

Now I am eyeing anything that looks like a bell mouth.  I have lots of experience with mold making, fiberglassing, vacum forming, etc.

I made up the top and baffle, got the sides 1/2 made.  So after some snow shovelling I hope to get back into the shop this afternoon.

Thanks

Wow.

That is a lot of info.   Thanks, I had something totally different in mind.   Now it makes sense.

I am sure glad I caught this now.

I have been reading away at this site.  The bell mouth idea is interesting.  Do you have any pics to help me out ?

Thanks

Thanks for the reply.

I was not worring about the fine dust, I was wondering if there was a way to enhance collecting the fine dust.

Thien Cyclone Separator Lid Discussion / 2 questions
October 30, 2012, 06:07:13 PM
Just finished a job and got my tools home.  want to get at this collector.

Does any one know of a place to buy an impeller ?

Next, but I have been thinking, always a dangerous thing.

Has anyone ever tried using an air stream, from a small compressor to direct dust down the side of the collector.  Some where 2/3's of the way of the lower baffle ?

Not a huge stream of air, but enough to direct the dust down and hopefully more will settle .

Ok 3 questions.  Phil I noticed some people we remarking how there was fine dust on the underside of the lower baffle.  Has anyone tried a shape of the bottom of the baffle.  ie 1/2 a ball.

Or is there a bit of inherint static that the fine dust clings to ?

Thanks for approving me as a member.

I was ready to pop for a Dust Deputy, but what the heck.

I think I have a good grasp of the cyclone air dynamics, but still a bit baffled about how your design sets up an air swirl, and high / low pressure areas. If you could refer me to any earlier links I would appreciate it.

I have a no name 1 hp dust collector and was thinking of using that then I started thinking, I would like a bit more power as I would like to put in a floor duct for the table saw. So may as well do it right.

Am looking for impellers larger than 14 inches, any links to suppliers ?

Last question, I have thought about for years. Used to own an 62 International Scout, 4 cylinder.  It had an oil bath air cleaner.     Has anyone tried a water type seperation chamber ?

Regards

Hi

Nice site here.  Thanks for all the effort.

I just bought a metal trash can, got some plywood and ready to get at it.

Just a couple questions.

Has anyone ever tried, having the main exhaust pipe extend under the baffle ?

Has anyone tried beveling the bottom of the baffle, to see if that aids in seperation ?

Up in Good old Canada we don't have a Harbor freight, Does any one know were to get a decent impeller ?

Thanks in advance.
