Title: Reducing cyclone filter clogging
Post by: Jim_Haines on February 26, 2017, 05:23:11 PM
We just started using Oneida 5 HP Dust Gorilla cyclone collectors in our retirement community wood shop. We have found that the large HEPA filters can become very clogged, especially if the dust bins are allowed to over fill. Just wondering if using the Thien separators on our dustiest machines ahead of the cyclones might alleviate this.

Filters catch the fines that cyclones and separators miss.  Adding more separators will just add more line losses, but do very little to keep fines from getting to the filters.

I agree w/ retired2.  Maybe a better solution would be an alarm or shutoff for the existing system, to prevent it from overfilling.
