Does anyone have a design plan for cutting out a 5" hvac duct pipe to add a side entry design into a 30 gallon metal garbage can?

http://www.jpthien.com/smf/index.php?topic=637.0 This thread will get er done. You may want to consider a tophat if the sides of the trash can are not smooth. In either case the round to rectangle inlet design is pretty slick.

Thanks Steve but I dont want to build the tophat version.  I would like to build a sidentry version that empties into a 30 gallon metal trash can.

I made my side entry by just trial and error. As noted there is a more scientific way to figure the cut, but it wasn't that hard to figure out:
