I have a dust collector with 6" dia. piping and I'm planning to make a separator. After looking at some pics on the forums I can't determine how many inches my exhaust pipe at the center of the lid should extend into the separator chamber. The chambe

 :) Sorry, this newbee doesn't have the knack of this forum stuff yet.

I'm trying to build a separator for a 55 gal. drum with 6" incoming and outgoing lines. From some pics during the search I'm unable to determine how many inches the pipe going from the separator to the 2 hp. dust collector should be extended into the separator chamber. I'm guessing about halfway down, but would like a more accurate assessment from one of the experienced out there.

Have the D, so approx. 3".
