Alan, The bigger the vacuum the better. Hence in the left hand limb of the manometer ( assuming this is connected to your ducting) the water should move up = greater vacuum. Elsewhere on this blog I think I remember someone quoting vacuum of 12" of water with a 3 Kw DC on a 6" duct system. I think it may have been written by Retired.

The trouble is this blog is getting too complicated and it takes for ever to read it all and a better mind than mine to remember it. It seems there are two groups of readers one group only interested in reducing the need to clean filters and the other interested in making the filter work better.     Regards,    Bernard

i know what you mean.
im firmly in the put it all in the bucket side.
i vent out side anyway so im not too woried  but would like as much of the dust seperated first.
