If it works, I like it.

Great, that should work better than reducing the diameter (area) of the pipe.

Only speaking off the top of my head but I would not reduce the diameter of the tube.  Instead I would try Making the end retangular so as to have the same area at the outlet.  Just shooting from the hip.  I made mine like your 1st picture cutting off the edge.  I would fefinitely like to see any results from testing on that idea.

X Ray, what was the final verdict on the HF DC?
#20
Might, but still worth checking.  Or just call HF.
#21
Could be a loose impeller on motor shaft.  Or call HF and ask if you can bring in just the blower unit for exchange.
#22
Anxious to see the results of further testing.

It would be good to use with a shop vac, IMHO the diameter is too small to use 4" lines with it.
#24
That is good to know.  Might try that on my little 1Hp DC for my down draft sanding table & router. :)

Is there an advantage to larger line after the separator, larger than the line between the blower and separator?
#26
That is always good news!  :)

Possible the campground we are in is filtering them out????  Will try again when we get back home next week.  I just looked at a couple of older post & they don't have any pictures either.  So probably the network here in the state park.

I don't see any pictures?

1 1/2" or 2' placed as close to the outside edge as you can.  Only need 4" if using a DC with 4".  For a shop vac the smaller size is suitable. :)

That would be interesting to read. :)
