looks nice.  any chance for a few photos of the baffle/interior?

i've built two.  they work great and are wonderfully portable.

that is a really great idea and application.

i would like to add a baffle to my delta ap400.  here is the owners manual for a delta ap 400:

http://www.dewaltservicenet.com/documents/English/Instruction%20Manual/Delta/A15097.pdf

page 8 shows a photo of all the components.  the blower housing, which is one piece, seems to be the appropraite spot for the baffle, but i'm not quite sure how to position the baffle in the blower housing between the filter bag (top)  and the collection bag (bottom).  anyone have any thoughts on this?

very nice execution.  good luck with the separator.

when you say pvc, are you referring to the schedule 40 plumbing fittings that are available at HD for DWV applications?  or is it something else?  thanks.
#22
what elbow and coupler did you use?

this question is about the pictures of Phil's baffle that appear on the j. phil thien site.  i think i know what fittings were used above the lid(the black ones).  my question concerns how the outlet and inlets ,below the lid, were attached to their respective "above the lid" black fittings.  any input would be appreciated.

dbhost..do you have a sku or product number for the drain pipe you attached the 4" PSI hose to? and where did you buy the sewer pipe?  i tried attaching the 4" hose that came with my ap400 to 4" sewer pipe from HD and the hose is too small by about 1/4".  any info would be appreciated.  thanks.

i know the consensus here is that metal works best as a separtor, but i happened to see this at the HD.

it was very substantail and i'd like to know what opinions there are about its possible suitability as a separator for a 4" DC like the delta ap400.  the 20  gal size, which i am considering, is stronger than the metal cans that HD carries. thanks.

i agree.  which leaves me with a separator.  what size garbage can would be best with 4" hoses and filltings-20 or 30 gal?

now that i understand the baffle set up, and my shop vac is equipped with a dry wall bucket separator with a thien baffle, i want to add something to my DC.  should i:

1) add a baffle to the DC (delta ap 400, not really sure how to do this given its configuration) or

2) create a separate separator for the same DC.  if yes to (2),  what size pail/receptacle would work well with 4" fittings (20 or 30 gal)?

possibly phil could offer an opinion regarding choosing one of the above two alternatives.  thanks.

does the baffle in the  DC go under the motor or between the lower bag and the discharge from the impellor?  and a further question:  so the "choice", when using a DC, is between a separate separator or installing a baffle in the DC, which would keep the filter cleaner but subject the impellor to potentailly damaging debris.  the separate separator eliminates the possibility of damage to the impellor but is somewhat less powerful depending on the efficiency fo the separator.  have i got it right?  so what do most people prefer?

anyone have any advise on how to add a baffle to this DC(http://www.coastaltool.com/a/delt/ap400.htm)?  i was ready to do the separator, but if adding a baffle to the DC works better, that may be the way i go.  BTW, i built a separator for my shop vac using the thien baffle and it works g-r-e-a-t.  98-99%  of all particulate captured before the shop vac filter.  looks like it will be a while before i have to buy anymore filters and vacuum bags.

nice application, particularly how the separator is integrated into the DC.  what model delta is the DC and what size garbage pail did you use?  also, what fitting(s) did you use attach the DC to the center of the separator lid? info appreciated.  thanks.
