I'm getting ready to cut my baffle and just wanted to make sure of something.

Am I correct in thinking the the large diameter of the baffle should be as close to the side of the can as possible?

Thanks.

I've got a new HF collector and plan on using a Thien separator in a 30 gal. metal can along with a Wynn cartridge filter. Most of the designs I see are for a shop vac. What size fittings should I use for my can top? The HF has a 5" inlet and from what I see, my main line should be 6" (using PVC).

I'm pretty sure that if I use 4" fittings, it will mess with my CFM and velocity. Are 6" fittings commonly used?

Thanks!
